Good morning! My 13 (nearly 14) year old daughter would like to get started in more serious competition. She's been shooting 3D with a new, small club down here in the Beaufort area and the occasional shoot in Savannah. She's ready to step it up! Where do we start?? What associations does she need to join?? Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!!! I thank you all, in advance, for your time and help!

Our tournament season generally runs January to August and the new schedule should be availble in October. There are many ways to participate. The most basic is to participate in any club shoots. For club shoots any individual may come, sign in, pay fee and shoot. There is a regional tournament, where you must go to each club in the region (upper or lower) and your highest score at each club during the year is added to determine regional champion. You must sign up and pay fee for regional tournaments before your first regional shoot at the club. We also have state spot tournaments that go towards Shooter of the Year. Each tournament is has its own rules and these a link on the SCAA website home page that explains each tournament. To participte you must be a SCAA/NFAA member and this can be done online (NFAA website) or at any club. I hope this helps. We love new archers, especially children, dont hesitate to ask anyone for help or information.

Try her school. Most schools in SC have archery, which is part of DNR suppling the equipment to the schools. A teacher or staff member has to head it up. its know as NASP, National Archery in Schools Program.

Thank you both!! We're going to start with registering on the NFAA site. I'll have to talk to one of the DNR guys here. There are only a couple schools here that have the program and for this year she's in virtual school, so that actually works FOR us! LOL! Again, I thank you!! Looking forward to putting names and faces together in the future!
