Good afternoon, quick question in reference to the upcoming indoor vegas round at Keowee. I have never shot indoor, only 3d. I am planning on shooting the keowee state vegas round on 01/31. I am currently shooting a 15" stabilizer and scope with 4X lens. I understand that I will have to shoot an open class due to my equipment, but being my first shoot do I have to shoot a novice class and work my way up to being able to shoot in an open class, or can I shoot the open class simply because of my equipment? This is really just going to be a learning experience for me, as I am very interested in getting into indoor. So far, my highest score in a "practice" vegas round is 290 with 6x's, using previously mentioned equipment. How does that score compare to scores seen at a state shoot? Thanks for any info or advice in advance!

Glad to see that you are exploring other styles of archery. Classes are based on equipment and not skill/experience. For NFAA sanctioned shoots, the open class is Freestyle. Also, you will need to shoot of the shooting times. Each time is one round.
Fri. 6:30pm, Sat. & Sun. 9 am, 11am, 2pm, Sat. only 4pm. 2 shooting times are required for tournament Preregister by contacting Dale Smith or Perry Burns (contact info below) Jan. 15-29

As far as how your score compares, look at the SCAA records and past shooter of year (SOY) score charts on the archives page from SCAA website.

Is the state vegas round the only 3 spot tournament held? Or do the clubs put on vegas tournaments on their own? I can't find any 3 spot tournaments on any of the schedules, except for the state shoot.

There are not any scheduled. The places that can, generally just run leagues. Occasionally you will see a practice Field round or something like that. But it is not usually well attended, even if the club says it is free.
