I have noticed there are a number of shoots in NC and GA close to my location, which are USA events. In order to shoot you have to belong to USA organization. Why are there two organization. It seem that the USA cater to the FITA or 900 type rounds. Also SC does not participate in the USA events. I do not understand why to two organizations don't unite would seem to make both organizations stronger. Anyone know why the two organizations?

I've done my best to answer your questions and if you have more please just ask.
My Name is Steven Coleman and I'm the NFAA Director for the state of SC. I'd like to answer your questions. First off you only have to be a member of one of these; USA Archery or NFAA to compete. Yes there are a lot of USA Archery events in GA and NC, and I've tried to have those events here in SC and all the clubs I've asked boldly said no one would come. We can't make any money. And that's a lot of arrows. Here is an example there more might be more out of state shooters attending the SC Senior Sports Classic. That's our Senior Games. For the most part, SC is a 3D state; most of the archers in SC only want to shoot 3D targets, period. The paper shooters are doing their best to get 3D shooters to try paper. The reply I get is “I use 3D for practice for hunting and I only need to shoot one arrow”. There are more than two organizations out there fighting to get archers to attend their events: ASA, IBO, USA Archery, NFAA, Barebow and Trad Organizations. Ok when you say USA cater to FITA or 900 rounds, not sure what you mean. When it comes to USA Archery and NFAA archery, they are different and have different missions when it comes to archery. USA Archery is the path to the Olympics and World teams. Where most NFAA shooters would prefer not to shoot in open fields and stand in the Sun. And then again there are a few like me who just love watching arrows fly, I also have to say I'm not a fan of 3D, but I do try to attend a few each year. It would be wrong of me to ask clubs to host paper shoots if I'm not attending 3D shoots. Just the way I see it. I look at it this way, a few folks don't like FITA events and came up with an idea, lets shoot in the woods, its just the American way. As for the two uniting, they have different purposes and methods to get there, just like our Democrats and Republicans, different goals and methods. And we haven't even brought in ASA or IBO who are only host 3D events, with a lot less arrows than USA Archery and NFAA.
Hope this answers some of your questions.
